My skin care routine | julie barbour

Cleansers I Love And Recommend

Hello Folks and welcome back to my blog tonight I am going to talk to you about cleansers I love.

The first cleanser that I am loving is the elemis pro radiance cream cleanser.
This is my third bottle of this cleanser there is a previous post on the blog on my elemis skin care products and have also spoken about them in on my youtube channel.

The elemis cleanser you apply to dry skin and lightly massage into the skin till has warmed up and loosened, the formulate doesn't actually get warm it just says on the bottle to let it warm, leave for a minute to dissolve then remove with a damp cloth, you get a elemis mitt with the product but you can use a face cloth.

I really love it as its all natural products such as ylang ylang a moringa seed, acai fruits, sweet Brazilian orange plus lavender and patchouli. I cannot stress enough how amazing this product smells it's so therapeutic.

You get 150ml for around £27.00 so this is I would say mid price range.

I was so excited to finally purchase this item and am over the moon that I did purchase it.
Its the pixi in collaboration with the lovely skin expert and queen that is Caroline Hirons with the double cleanse.
Oh, my god, this is the holy grail if you haven't got this I suggest you go out and buy it forthwith.
You get 2 x 50ml
Step one is the solid cleansing oil- this is to remove makeup and sunscreen you take a pea size amount and rub it all over your face even onto your eyes to get all that eye makeup and mascara off and can I just say it's totally amazing and your not left with any residue of eye makeup or mascara.
step 2 is the cleansing cream- this cleanses the skin in preparation for the next steps within your skin care routine, again using a pea-sized amount of the cream rub between your fingers and pop all over your face then get yourself a wash cloth and remove the cleanser and you have nice smooth and cleaned skin.
I believe this retails for £ 24.00 pounds on the pixi website and on cult beauty, i picked mine up from e-bay for half of this price.
This is the only pixi product I have ever tried or owned and I can't definitely say I will repurchase this product, I only use this cleanser when I have to make upon wich isn't every day so it is going to last me a long time.

This isn't a cleanser but a cleansing wash, I have tried many a cleansing wash or facial wash and they have been ok, then I got this baby in a sample set and instantly fell in love with it.
It's the elemis ( not surprise there then ha) sensitive cleansing wash.
Now my skin is slightly sensitive, normal combination.
You get 200ml for around £22 which is fantastic, I use this every night in the shower after using the elemis pro radiance cream cleanser.
You massage into the damp skin I leave for few minutes then wash it off, I leave my skin feeling very refreshed with the lovely ingredients.

It contains extracts of thyme, german chamomile, lady's mantle, which is used for antibacterial properties and are infused with unique milk protein base for a calming experience, I highly suggest this it works so well and if you like the scent then it's very relaxing.

And last but by no means least there is this new discovery which is the Vichy one step cleanser for sensitive skin.
I picked this as part of my Latest in Beauty Box.
this is a 30ml sample and it says on it.
1. cleansing milk
2. toner
3. eyes make up remover.
paraben free.
It's a Vichy thermal spa water.
You apply this straight onto a cotton pad and apply to the face in circular motions and leave it to dry in no need to remove at all, so this is perfect for if you are in a hurry and need to get going but still want to make sure that you have included this step within your skin care routine.
It has a slight scent to it but not overpowering and it has been fine for my skin considering it's my first attempt at using this product and brand and I have no complaint and will even consider buying the full-size product in the near future.

well, that's all from me let me know in the comments below cleanser you use and recommend I would be interested to know and hope you have a fantastic Friday night whatever you are doing.

But if you don't try then you will never know eh.

I am a few months now into doing my channel.

What initially made me want to try my hand at doing my own channel was just the joy I feel when i'm watching videos on you tube, there are so many people on there and different subjects to chose that are of interest to you.

I did a blog post a few weeks ago on who on you tube I love and watch so head over to the post to check it out.

My videos have been based around, hauls, beauty box Unopenings and getting to know me.

I would love to do make up looks but I cannot afford at the moment to buy all the lights and equipment that is required to make these videos good quality.

I do have a Panasonic Lumix  TZ30 camera which I haven't tried using yet for videos.

As I mentioned I use my I phone.

I would appropriate all advice and help is welcome so please do feel free to help me out and leave advice on comments here.

I am so blessed that all the people that have commented on my you tube videos have all be supportive and positive and that I am extremely grateful you have no idea how much it means to me as its not easy putting yourself out there online for all to see and judge.

Things That Help My Anxiety

Evening folks tonight I thought I would share some ideas on what  helps my anxiety.

1. A GOOD CRY, If am having a particularly bad episode it can feel like my my head is so tense and going to exploded, a lot of people feel like you have to hide being upset but I don't care anymore I know from experience that if I let it all out in a good cry then there is so much release.

2. If the weather is nice and I know its not always the case in UK go somewhere that has water and bit of sand and sit with either my thoughts and reflect on things and listen to the water, or again find a quiet stop and listen to some music this is really relaxing just getting fresh air can clear that cloud of anxiety passing over.

3. This might seem odd to people but looking at cloud relaxes me so much I don't know what it is about them but just adore them and on a day where there are loads of them I like to sit and stare at them and go into a little daze.

4. Reading get lost in a good book its fantastic escapism and not only that but reading is just the best, when you find books that really grip you there is nothing better.

5. write down what you have achieved in the specific moment when your having a moment and then look and think this isn't as bad as other episodes and look at what .is triggering this episode, identify it and then but it to bed as such.

6. Laughing, I know you prob thinking when your feeling anxious how on earth will you be wanting to laugh but if you can get through the fog and heavy head or panic which ever the feelings it is that your having, then look at some funny videos on you tube or on your phone from friends and laugh it really will pick you up.

7. TALK,  particularly if your having a really bad episode then phone that good friend or partner just someone you can trust and know will listen and speak to them or ask them to distract you from yourself. I know this can be hard as you don't want to burden people and they have there own stuff going on, but if they love and care about you they will take the time, some folk also don't like to open up, i,m a very open person so i find it better to open up or it makes me feel much worse.

8. Go onto a anxiety Facebook page or other anxiety social media  and talk to like minded people who know just what your going through, believe me your not ALONE!!!.

9. colouring books, I got a few off those adult colouring books and there so relaxing defiantly recommend them.

10. anxiety pod casts cant help also there are a good few out there.

The anxiety coaches
Not another anxiety show
Anxiety slayer
The anxiety guru show

there are loads.

Well I hope that this will be interesting to you guys and I would love to see comments on what helps you to deal with your anxiety.

So please leave comments down below and follow me and come back for more posts and have a great evening.

And remember, if you cant love yourself how the hell are you going to love anyone else xxxx

Authors I love

Happy Saturday everyone hope you having a good one no matter what your getting up to.

I have decided since I'm such a bookworm why not do a post on Authors that I have been loving.

Tess Gerritsen

Tess a graduate of Stanford University, went on to medical school in University of California, San Francisco and got her M.D.

When off having her children Tess began writing fiction novels.
In 1987 she published her first novel. Call After Midnight, which is a romantic thriller which was followed by 8 more suspense novels.

So I discovered Tess books when I was staying in a hotel and there was some books left I hadn't taken anything to read with me so seeing the books I was intrigued and started reading the book, The book was called The Surgeon it was amazing I swear down I couldn't put it down and ever since that moment I was hooked and became a huge fan of her books.

Tess has a series of books That have the characters Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles and there is all so an American TV series on Rizzoli & Isles.

The Rizzoli & Isles books in order are :

The Surgeon
The Apprentice
The Sinner
Body Double
Vanish
The Mephisto Club
Keeping The Dead
The killing Place
The Silent Girl
Last To Die
Die Again

And I have read them all there amazing, if your into murder, thriller and on tender hooks type reading then I highly suggest theses books.

Tess all so has many independent books that are not part of this series there also amazing she has even done some short stories and screenplays.

She is defiantly an all time favourite of mine Having read all of her current book I'm hoping she is going to bring out loads more.

Mark Edwards

Mark became a new discovery a few years ago before I went away on holiday to Tuscany Having a kindle sometimes I go with the recommended books that are suggested for me if they sound good, I came across a book called The Magpies by Mark Edwards.

Oh my this book was so good like nothing I had read before, a little information on Mark, he writes Psychological Thrillers, about scary things happening to ordinary people he got his inspiration to write these types of books by Authors such as, Stephen King and Linwood Barclay.

Mark is from the south coast of England, Mark started to write in his 20s even teaming up with Louise Voss to co write some novels such as Killing Cupid and Catch Your Death.

I don't want to give spoilers of the books as I would no doubt write too much and spoil it.

But they books I have read of Mark Edwards are as follows:

The Magpies
Killing Cupid
The Girl Who Moved In Next Door
Kissing Games
Follow You Home
Catch Your Death
Forward Slash
What You Wish For

These are all FANTASTIC BOOKS.

But I highly recommend that you go and read The Magpies for sure even if it is thee only one of his books that you pick up.

Well folks this is all for the now on books and I am sure there defiantly will be more along the way.

Hope you have a fantastic Easter and don't eat too much chocolate ha ha.

much love

Julie

Mental Health Lets Stop The Stigma

Evening folks tonight's post is going to be a different one to anything I have ever posted.

I recently read a post that was just so appalling  that i'm not even going to mention who they were that wrote it as the ignorance from this person was just down right disgusting.

When it comes to Mental Health some people have this "if you can't see it it's not there attitude".

It totally stinks how can anyone be so callus and narrow minded.

I have suffered bouts of depression in my life particularly to do with my appearance and weight issues.

You get people going well regarding the weight well if you weren't so fat and did exercise then you wouldn't feel bad about yourself and as for your ugliness you can't change that. When folk say these things to you all the time especially when your young growing up it affects you, its a mental torture.

Yes I know that I am over weight I love to eat food and don't really exercise so yeah its only me who can do something about it but you don't need the horrid comments from those around you.

Regarding depression being told oh your not doing enough to pull yourself out of it, its not that simple, the word depression can get used in general terms and you might just be having a bad day, we all have them but don't assume that the person is just having a bad day, how do you know what there going through have you taken the time to ask them and listen or find out what there going through. Granted they might not want to tell you but at least you showed interest instead of making them feel like crap.

The post I read was just disgusting going on like people who have a Mental illness make it up they need to get a grip and stop going on about it.

This doesn't help at all, also the cheek to say that its wasting NHS and the medical systems time and money when they should be dealing with more serious illnesses and situations.

Its just gob smacking the complete ignorance of folk in this world. I just hope and pray that one day these people don't then find themselves in the predicament of getting a mental health issue as it can happen to anyone at anytime.

I got diagnosed by my GP in 2014 with an anxiety disorder, I thought initially I was having a heart attack and panic attacks as it turns out it was symptoms of my Hiatus Hernia, but as the doctor explained to me with all I have been through in my life and other things that im not going to publish on her she is not surprised that My state of mind has going the way it has.

I was terrified and didn't have a clue why or how to explain to anyone lest alone my friends and family how I was feeling or why.

I wanted to curl up in a ball and die to make it all go away, My boss at the time was thee most disgusting excuse for a human being  I knew this from day one that she had the worst reputation but with having to deal with her regarding my diagnosis and time signed off she was ignorant, vile and down right disgusting," telling me your going to lose all your friends you need to get a grip an a hold of yourself."

I was sat there crying my eyes out while this woman made me feel like a peace of shit on the bottom of her shoe.

Never let anyone make you feel like that. This anxiety disorder I have is horrid and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, worse than the depression I found that easier to deal with, I went to go for a walk one day when particularly bad with my anxiety and it was the most terrifying experience of my life my body just wouldn't move it was like i was paralysed with fear nothing wanted to move my heart was beating so fast I was so scared.

For me what triggers my anxiety is mostly hormonal imbalance I have had long discussions with my doctor about this and unfortunately I just have to find ways to deal with it.

After going through the worst year of my life from 2014/15 I got medication and now my anxiety is much more in control and I know how to handle it. Don't get me wrong it still affects me at times and always will. I still feel there is such stigma even toward me at times even from people I have tried to explain it too, they just don't get it as they haven't experienced it.

please if you can't or don't have the decency to try and understand or get the information then don't be that ignorant person.

If you want to ask me anything on how I deal with my mental health anything at all then please feel free to ask me.

Some of us out there do genuinely want to help and show support to fellow sufferers and hopefully a voice for those who feel like they can't speak out.

I hope I have come across in the right way and have a great evening whatever your doing.

Much love xx
