Mother's Day

Happy mothering Sunday Everyone.

I thought I would do a post today and celebrate the wonderful humans that bring us into the world and that is our mothers.

This is me and my beautiful mummy Joan Barbour as you can see she was such a warm loving an happy lady and she was my whole entire world.

We did everything together I was her little shadow always wanting to be with her and doing whatever she did.

Best friends forever, unfortunately my beloved mother was taken from us on 19th October 2003 When after a few years of suffering the dreaded disease that was cancer it took her from us and apart of me with her. 

Knowing that she no longer was in pain is a relief as no one wants to see the person they love suffering in pain, she never once complained and was so brave when i'm sure deep down inside she must of been terrified, what a strong and inspirational woman she was and is.   

She was much loved by everyone who had the joy off meeting her, she would of adopted the whole world if given the chance just such a huge heart with so much love to give.

We all have such fond memories of her, I really really miss her there is no pain like it that I will ever feel again in my life, I remember it like it was yesterday I only hope that she will be proud of me as her daughter and that if she was here she would be happy with how my life has turned out.

I went and got a special canvas done today in celebration our life together.

I love you mum your my best friend and my inspirational woman.

I hope you are totally at ease now and know that you brought nothing but joy to my life for the short amount of time we had together and I will always cherish our lifetime together until we meet again

Mothers Day 2017 

Spring Has Finally Arrived

Hello finally to some lovely spring weather and what a stunning day it is this beautiful Saturday.

Saturday the 25th April and finally I got to go out without a jacket and put on sunglasses!!!.

Not thee most flattering picture of me or angle but hey ho its a beautiful day out there.

I decided come on Julie get your bum into gear and grab your camera and head out and take some stunning pictures of the most beautiful scenery, living on Isle of Skye you don't always appreciate how stunning it actually is. 

When I was younger used to think to myself why do people always take photos without people or things within the photo, my Mum always said to me when I got older I would appreciate the beautiful surroundings and scenery as I grew and I guess she was spot on. 

This is the 1st picture of the day walking past my local hotel and looking out to the hill in this distance with a light dusting of snow upon the hill just stunning with hues of slight clouds.

Looking out over to Mallaig with the stunning blue water and slight greenery. Sometimes you get lucky and will see some boats in the water but not today, just nice still calmness.

This is the views from the bay right near Armadale Boat Yard and just in front of our local shop Ardvasar Stores. The tide was out and got a good shot of these boats moored on the land.

As I got further along on my walk got a picture of the water and hills in the distance and the tide is out but love just seeing all the seaweed and the stunning reflection on the water and not a ripple to be seen.

Have you ever smelt gorse, if you haven't you should it smells of coconut totally stunning plant with this beautiful yellow flowers again a few years ago I would be like why would you ever take a picture of this but come on its beautiful and nice to see the seasons changing.

Moving further down onto Armadale Pier here on Isle Of Skye I took this picture of the little sandy bay looking out into the distance you can see the old pier, and near this pier there is a youth hostel and also some boats still come into that pier, but the main Ferry terminal is on the opposite site off the pier where you get the ferry from and to Mallaig.

Im just inserting some more stunning images of the beautiful scenes that surround me where I live. The white building you can see there on the cliff edge is one of the buildings where I work which is Sabhal Mor Ostaig the Gaelic college on Isle of Skye.

Sandy Bay At Armadale Pier 

Skye Kayak club out on the water and what a perfect day for it!!!.

Got myself a Caramel Latte from the local pasta shed which is situated at the Armadale Pier and took myself to this sandy bay and sat and watched the world go by and just enjoyed the peace and quiet staring into the distance.

Well I have had a Lovely Day walking around where I live and taking in the fresh air and getting some stunning photos to share with you all, and I hope whatever your getting up to yourselves your having a fantastic day. 

Tomorrow is Mothering Sunday  I would like to say have the best day with your mum's appreciate them and spoil them rotten all the best to you all xxx 

Current Favourite Highlights

Evening folks I thought I would do a post on my current 3 Favourite Highlighters.

Now I am 33 and sometimes I personally feel that I cannot pull off wearing highlighter, especially the more out there ones like the brand Becca.

I put it on then look at myself and think its making the lines on my face look worse than they need to be and not subtle at all ha were is this amazing glow that one is supposed to have haha.

Being obsessed with all things make up and cosmetics of course you got to browse about and try a good few.

These are the ones that I find not to be so over the top on myself.

My first love and as you will be able to tell from the photo that it hitting pan is the Kevyn Aucoin the celestial powder in the shade CANDLELIGHT.

I love love love this product, it's defiantly a you tube made me buy this product as for one I hadn't  even heard of  space nk until watching all these many you tubers, let alone this brand in general. 

When away on a girls weekend in Edinburgh went into space nk and man did browse to buy thee whole shop!.

I made a beeline for the Kevyn Aucoin counter and said to myself your definitely going to leave this shop with a purchase from this brand as it looked and felt stunning when I swatched the highlighters and some other products.

It comes in this stunning like glittery burgundy shade that merges into the darker shade with thee stunning gold writing on the lid. You push the long golden button to release the magic that is awaiting inside then you find this golden beautiful finely milled powder, there is no scent to this product and also not glittery which is fantastic unless that is what your looking for in your highlighter. 

It also comes with a small mirror which for the size of the item is actually a pretty decent mirror to use. 

I highly recommend trying this out, as I said picked it up at space nk so go and check it out.

Next up is the lovely Bobbi Brown who does make up so well, and not only are her products good quality I love the packaging its so pleasing on the eye even if its not fancy looking.

So this one is nude finish illuminating powder, as you see in the photo its like a brick, now Bobbi Brown do there classic shimmering bricks which can get used as a blush or highlight but are super shimmery. 

After looking at BBpro Hannah Martin's videos on you tube and her discussing this item and turns out its used normally as a setting or finishing powder I was like oh... as I thought it was a highlight. 

It is an off sort of beige brown tones with two squares within that have slight shimmer so I have decided to use it as a subtle highlight, and suppose it can be used as a multi purpose item which is always an added bonus isn't it!!.

So again I would suggest this as an alternative for a subtle highlight if you are looking to try out getting that glow without harsh over the top shimmer.

The newest one to my collection was a recommendation from a Mac make up Artist online, I explained my concerns with using highlighter and them just not looking the best on myself and she suggested for me to try out.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in the shade LIGHTSCAPADE.

This is the larger of the products as you can see from the photo there is 10g so this is going to last you forever unless you go crazy with it ha.

Its totally stunning to look at with its marbled effect its got some blue tones in there and swirls of pearly pink within the golden and white base its totally stunning on the skin.

So if you are interested in a more subtle highlighter then so far these are the three I have found.

my foundations

Hey guys hope your all doing well, today I thought I would do a post on my current foundations.

1. L'oreal Paris Lumi Magique Foundation.

Now before I delve right into this foundation I have to tell you all unfortunately that they have discontinued this  item which is a shame. 

I don't know why I decided to purchase this foundation I was just in boots one day browsing and thought why not give it ago, Its reasonably priced  and have always known L'oreal to be a good brand of products. 

This foundation retailed at 10.99 so not to bad for those on a budget as your getting 30ml of product and a little goes a long way as they say!.

This foundation is a light coverage foundation I wouldn't say you need a lot of it, its lightly infused to give you that subtle glow from within, which is great if you have slightly dull looking skin and its also providing you with an SPF of 18 I know this isn't a high factor but its defiantly better than having non included at all.

Even though this foundation is no longer in the shops there are still plenty of them out there that you can try.

Moving onto slightly more higher end foundations that you can still purchase.

ARMANI LUMINOUS SILK 

I have had this foundation now for a couple of years I was in Jenners in Edinburgh and decided I am going to pop to the counter and ask for them to colour match me and see what the foundation is like before I even think of buying this item, as its 30 0dd pounds so if its not for me then its a lot of money to be wasting and all so it might not look good or be what I am looking for, and my confession with a lot of my items is that I have heard about them and just want to have it in my collection ha.

So I got colour matched at the counter and I was matched to shade 3.5 I asked if It was possible to have a sample as to test out how I felt with the product as with some counters there not keen or wont even give you a sample, but if you don't ask you wont get is the saying!!.

I decided to do more research into this foundation and a lot of make up artists said it looks amazing on the skin and gives you a radiance but not to much of one and looks amazing in photos.  

For the price of this foundation which is around 32 pounds I personally think its been over hyped I don't notice a huge amount of a luminous look from this product.

CHANEL LES BEIGES

This is my first ever Chanel foundation and I am over the moon with it not only cause its Chanel and I love Chanel but it does what It says on the bottle.

As I have always said from the beginning within my posts don't feel shy about going to department stores or  counters and asking plenty of questions and advice on products and seeing about trying on stuff and trying for samples. I know people and have friends who are just not into doing this at all as to shy or feel awkward to ask, if you don't ask you don't get as the saying goes and lets face it whats the worst that will happen, they will say sorry but we don't have a sample or we don't give them out.

If you really are interested in the particular brand and want that product this wont put you off and try some on your face in store and go around see what its like and make a decision from there, happy days!!.

Now we all know that Chanel do stunning packaging and iconic looking items so naturally there was going to be a high end price for all there items.

But not only does this foundation look stunning but it also smells amazing too, if your not into much of a scent within your products then this item might not be for you, its not an offensive scent its a light and subtle fruity scent and personally I like the fresh scent.

I got lucky and did mange to get a sample of this foundation as well as having the foundation applied so I could see how it felt and was going to react to my skin.

I am shade no.20 and this foundation is a healthy glow foundation with SPF 30 which is fantastic the higher the better, it retails in the 30 pound range so its high end. You get 30mls and it comes in a beautiful thick glass bottle with a pump and the black lid with the classic Chanel logo.

It feels so nice and smooth and light weight on the skin which is what I wanted I feel like there is enough of a healthy glow without having to over do it and add loads of product to achieve this look.

I would defiantly recommend this more than the Armani foundation. If you want to see how it works for you head to a counter and get colour matched and a sample you wont regret it.

NARS SHEER GLOW

This is a cult classic out there within the beauty world, and I finally got my hands on it. In November when on holiday I popped into space nk and got colour matched for this foundation I wanted to see if the hype was worth it. This item again is a higher end foundation and retails at 32 pounds, you get 30 ml without a pump which is a pain in the butt as you then have to decanter it onto back of your hand or directly onto your make up tool. But don't fret as you can purchase the pump on its own for around 3 pounds, I do think for 32 pounds though this should be already within the packaging of this item.

I am the shade Santa Fe and I got myself a sample and used it to death and totally loved it, I can hands down say this is one of my fav ones And possibly going to replace all the ones in this blog post once they have been used up.

I looks amazing on the skin and feels fantastic.

YouTube Channel

Hey guys I hope your really well, as you can tell from the title of this post It not going to be a normal post about my thoughts on a products or a review.

I am not sure even if I have followers for my blog but hopefully there are a few, I haven't posted in a while as I got me a YouTube channel!

I watch more YouTube than I do TV and I just love watching make up videos, collaborations, haul videos whats in my bag etc.

So I decided i'm going to get myself a mini tri pod for my I phone SE and give it ago.

I purchased my tri-pod from  Amazon and thought right lets do it.

I have not the first clue how to edit videos, do thumbnails, cut bits out, add intros, end slates or even voice overs and links.

I have watched a few videos on how to and written down some notes.

I use the app viva video I decide what I am going to upload and then just go for it, no editing at all.

At present I have 12 uploaded videos, and happy to say that any comments I have received have been nice and positive which is great as I have said in the videos and on her i'm not professional.

I wish I could be as good as the likes on Zoella, Pointless blog and the saconne jolys.

Maybe one day eh haha.

The reason for deciding to do YouTube was simply because I love it and I love watching and being involved in the YouTube community.

I am looking to find people who would be willing to offer me help and tips on how to improve my channel and also make it look much better.

So if your that person and willing to help then that be appreciated.

We all need to come together and support each other and not be against each other.
